Materials:
- Canvas fabric (12x18")
- Coordinating thread
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
- Pins
- Ruler
- Measuring tape
- Fabric markers
- Embroidered designs (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cut the fabric:
- Cut two pieces of canvas fabric, each 12x18".
2. Sew the two pieces together:
- Pin the edges together and sew them with a 1/2" seam allowance using a sewing machine or hand sewing.
- Trim the excess fabric.
3. Add a lining:
- Cut a piece of lining fabric (12x18") that is 2 inches wider than the outside fabric.
- Sew the lining to the inside of the bag, right sides together.
4. Add a strap:
- Cut a piece of webbing or cord (30 inches long).
- Fold the strap in half lengthwise and sew the edges together.
- Attach the strap to the bag with a buckle or Velcro closure.
5. Decorate (optional):
- Embellish the bag with buttons, zippers, or other decorative elements.
- Hand-stitch on embroidery designs or appliques.
6. Add a divider:
- Cut a piece of lining fabric (12x6").
- Sew the divider to the inside of the bag, right sides together.
- Trim the excess fabric.
7. Attach the divider:
- Pin the divider to the center of the bag.
- Sew the edges together with a 1/2" seam allowance.
8. Finishing touches:
- Turn the bag right side out.
- Iron the seams flat.
- Add a luggage tag or other accessories as desired.
Tips:
- Use a fabric with a water-resistant finish for protection.
- Choose a fabric that matches the color of your bag.
- Experiment with different designs and embellishments.
- Make sure to use a sewing machine or hand-sewing needle for accurate results.
